Dr. Larry Polk, Jr.

Dr. Larry Polk, Jr. was named the Superintendent of Schools for Colorado ISD in January 2022.

Dr. Polk holds an Associate of Arts & Sciences in Business Management from El Centro College, a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Business-Education and a Master's of Education in Counseling from Sul Ross State University @ Alpine, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from  Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas.

Prior to becoming Superintendent, Dr. Polk served as Terrell ISD Assistant Superintendent for nine years. He also held positions as Executive Director of School Improvement, Middle-School Principal, Elementary School Principal, MS/HS Assistant-Principal in Lancaster ISD, Director of Counseling & Guidance, MS/HS Counselor, MS/HS Assistant Principal, Night-School Coop Principal Scurry-Rosser ISD, High School Counselor and Middle-School Teacher in Ennis ISD.

Dr. Polk has twenty-nine years of public school experience and is most notably known as a transformational-servant leader in the profession.  He has a passion for students having the opportunity to be CCMR-Engaged and live an abundant life and for teachers to be effective practitioners and build their capacity.

Dr. Polk is proud to serve the students, staff, and community stakeholders of Colorado ISD and proud to be the husband to Alicia Polk, the dad of grown children, and POP-POP to grandchildren.
