INDIANAPOLIS (August 7, 2024/National FFA Organization) – The Colorado FFA chapter in Colorado City, Tx has been awarded $5,000.00 as part of the Grants for Growing program. The nationwide program, sponsored by Tractor Supply Company, provides grant funds to local FFA chapters to support the development or improvement of agricultural education projects that enhance the classroom experiences for students through chapter engagement activities.

Colorado FFA plans to purchase a Babylon MicroFarm hydroponic grow system that will be used with agriculture education students taking Plant Pathway courses. The plan is for students to learn to grow, care for, harvest, dry, process, and package herbs and edibles that can be used in our cafeterias to help enhance food flavors. We are excited for students to enjoy this opportunity and get to share their experiences with this process as they will work from seed to table.

The program provided over $900,000 to FFA chapters in 47 states. Colorado FFA was one of 22 schools to receive funding in Texas. Funding is provided through consumer donations made during checkout at a Tractor Supply Company store by purchasing a $1 FFA Paper Emblem. The fundraising period aligns with National FFA Week in February.
