2 of our CHS TAFE members wrote and illustrated their own books. They competed at the regional competition in November and advanced to the •STATE• competition at the end of this month in Round Rock!
Please come to the school board meeting, Monday, February 12th at 5:30 to hear Erin Foster and Kyanna Martinez read their books in preparation for the competition! Their next goal: NATIONALS this summer. 🏆

Our CHS senior, Christian Ashby, is a towering 6'3 and weighs 320 pounds. Ashby has caught the attention of six Division 2 colleges and universities in Texas and Oklahoma, and for good reason. Ashby is a gifted athlete, excelling in football, track, and powerlifting. He has been described as "a natural" and "a force to be reckoned with."
Ashby has been recognized multiple times as a First Team District Offensive and Defensive Lineman for District 2A-1 Region 4. In both his junior and senior years, he was named the Unanimous All-District Lineman of the Year and First Team Offensive Lineman. Additionally, he was named to the All-West Texas High School Football Team as a Second Team Offensive Lineman.
But it's not just his impressive stats that caught the attention of college recruiters. Ashby was also honored by his teammates as team captain and a member of the leadership council. He is a true leader on and off the field.
Signing Day will take place at the Multipurpose building on February 7 at 11:25 AM to announce which D2 school Ashby will attend next year. You are invited to attend the event, and you don't want to miss it!

Local Basketball Legend Frank Biggers to be Inducted into the Colorado ISD Wall of Fame and the Big Country Athletic Hall of Fame.
Frank Biggers, a former basketball player for the Wallace Wildcats, is set to be inducted into the Colorado ISD Wall Of Fame before the varsity Lady Wolves play at home vs Bangs at 6:30 PM at MP on February 2, 2024. Everyone is welcome to attend and celebrate this amazing athlete's accomplishments.
Biggers, a 6'3" forward, played for the Wildcats, a small all-black school in Colorado City before integration. During his time at Wallace, Biggers led the Wallace Wildcats to five state championships from 1959-1966. In 1962, as a sophomore, he was recognized for his exceptional performance and was named all-state forward after leading Wallace to a 40-2 record and a state championship. Biggers was named Prairie View Interscholastic League all-state forward again his senior year in 1964.
After graduating from Wallace, Biggers continued his basketball career at Cisco College, where he became the nation's third-leading scorer with an average of 32 points per game over two seasons. After serving in the Army during the Vietnam War, he played with the Harlem Stars basketball team.
Mr. Biggers will be inducted into the inducted into the Big Country Athletic Hall of Fame on April 29, 2024 in Abilene.
